The Word Among Us: Saint Isaak of Syria
Poetry Adaptation - by Scott Cairns

The End and Beginning

I am of the opinion that the God
shall of a radiant morning make

full manifest a chaste, surpassing
            outcome, an issue of immense

compassion on the part
            of the loving Creator, even

with respect to the difficult
            matter of our suffering,

that out of it—pouring forth
            even from Gehenna’s bleak

abysmal torment—we will behold
            all the more and all

the better the immeasurable
            reach of His love.

Among all His actions, we find
not one that is not entirely

a matter of mercy, love,
            and compassion. These comprise

the beginning and the luminous
end of all His dealings with us.

adapted from The Ascetical Homilies of Saint Isaac of Syria
, the Second Part

Thank you, Thank you
I needed to see, read and "hear" that tonight. It has been a very long , dusty and defeating day. The journey in life has been needing this healing and soul soothing message.
My regards, and I will thank St. Isaac, the merciful tonight
in my prayers and all of the OC for bringing a ray of sun and hope to this weary soul.

Lord have mercy(3).
In Christ.
A friend, suzette

Wow.
Amazing. It's hard to justify the works of St. Isaac in words, knowing full well that what should rightly follow is prayer and silence. Lord have mercy on us, through the prayers of St. Isaac, our father most wise in God.
